Macular Degeneration

Macular Degeneration. What is it?

Macular Degeneration is an eye disease , in which his or her vision deteriorates with large consequences for the patient. The cause of the disease lies in the macula, also called yellow spot.
This very small spot at the centre of the back of the eye is filled with cells called cones. These photo sensitive cells and the rods play an important role in transforming light into images. Cones are responsible for one’s detailed vision through colour and contrast.
